Coaches
Coaches are the most important volunteers. A coach is usually the first mentor and authority figure a child interacts with other than a parent or a teacher. A coach is a leader and a role model. Not only is a coach responsible for teaching and developing a players skills, they are also responsible for building up a child's sense of self-worth and helping them realize their full potential of all they can aspire to and accomplish. A good coach can have an extremely positive impact on a child that can last a lifetime. South Portage Little League expectations for our coaches are that they have a knowledge of the game, are able to teach players in a manner that is appropriate for their age and skillset, and that they acknowledge the importance of demonstrating teamwork and sportsmanship for their players. Average Time Commitment: 6-12 hours/week, April-July.
